In 2010, Atlanta Hawks high-flying forward Josh Smith, who’s nickname is “J Smoove”, remains one of the most enigmatic, yet immensely popular players in the NBA today. While he has steadily improved nearly every aspect of his game from rebounding, to assists, to FG% in his 6 seasons in the Association, and since he became the youngest player ever to amass 1,000 blocked shots, it’s a sure bet that Josh stands a fighting chance of landing his first All Star Selection this season.
In part because Josh took home the ’05 NBA Slam Dunk crown, was named to the ’05 Rookie All 1st Team, as well as the NBA All Defensive 2nd Team last season, Smith is undoubtedly one of the league’s most marketable stars. One of the first companies to gobble up Smith as a spokesman and endorser was legendary shoe company adidas, who for a number of years now has featured the Georgia born native in their ads and commercials along with Dwight Howard, Kevin Garnett, and most recently Derrick Rose. His own signature shoe, called the Adidas Adizero Infiltrate, has already hit the stores and are flying off the shelves.
Smith’s newest kicks boast as being one of the lightest basketball shoes on the market and are very stylish in “villainous” black with Adidas’ trademark white triple stripe providing the ultimate contrast. The retail for about $90 bucks, which are a tad more affordable than most top tier basketball kicks.
In his most recent commercial, I give Josh a ton of credit for not taking himself too seriously by donning a bathrobe and shaving his legs to improve aerodynamics on his path to the rim. Not a lot of players would even consider doing something this out there, so I’ll give him his props.
Let’s just hope that he doesn’t start donning shorter shorts to go with being so “Smoove!”
