With the Denver Nuggets already on vacation after an early exit in this year’s NBA Playoffs, their super 6th man JR Smith decided to head to Houston, Texas to help out longtime friend, Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young. Young convinced Smith earlier in the year to participate in his All Star Celebrity Basketball Game with proceeds to benefit Young’s VY Foundation for inner city Houston children.
In the game, Smith continually showed off his usual high level of energy and athleticism but his double clutch jam off of the wrong foot was flat out the most talked about moment of the event. Smith took the ball the full length of the court off of a rebound and took off of his right foot and appeared to actually have too much hang-time, double clutched, and through it down over former USC player Romeo Miller, also known as rapper Lil Romeo.
Smith made it look like Miller wasn’t even there as he rose for the dunk. Perhaps this lack of defense was why Miller no longer is playing college ball after two uneventful seasons for the Trojans? Hopefully JR can avoid any more suspensions and be available for the full season with the Nuggets next season.
