The Hoop Doctors have run pieces before on Hedo Turkoglu and just how disappointing he has been this year as a member of the Toronto Raptors. I guess the Orlando Magic were psychic last off-season when they refused to offer a new contract to the 9 year veteran from Turkey, thus allowing him to sign with another Eastern Conference foe, that wound up being Toronto. The Magic instead chose to bring in the (formerly)high flying Vince Carter in his place and are once again among the top tier teams in the East, while Toronto has had an up and down season and appear likely to be one-and-done in this year’s post-season or miss the playoffs altogether.
Then recently, things have gotten even worse for Turkoglu since he was benched over his supposed late night partying ways up North. Which spawned this funny video first uncovered by the fine folks over at Ball Don’t Lie, where Hedo is dancing up a storm on the streets of Toronto. The actor in the video does a great job of impersonating Hedo, right down to the beard and sunglasses. I’d bet some innocent bystanders during the shoot actually thought it was the real person, except that Turkoglu is 6’10 tall.
In the age of NBA stars spoofing dumb commercials, like Steve Nash’s take as The World’s Most Ridiculous Man, by poking fun at those cheesy Dos Equis beer commercials, it’s refreshing to see when we can still find humor when a player does something stupid on or off the court as well.
