Three years ago American Basketball Coach JD Walsh travelled overseas to coach some basketball camps. He eventually found himself in an unlikely place coaching basketball. India. That’s right, JD Walsh is running clinics and camps for ballers in India, a place most people don’t equate to sports. If they did think of sport in India first to mind would undoubtedly be cricket. But basketball? hoops? India? Nah…..Well in this week’s podcast from Coach Koran Godwin he interviews Coach J.D. Walsh the pioneer and international coaching wonder. Coach Walsh shares his experiences coaching overseas and talks about his grassroots basketball program in India. He was a scholarship basketball player for The University of Maryland, and later on for St. Vincent’s in Dublin (Ireland) before an injury halted his playing career. In 1998, he started the JDBASKETBALL School in Great Neck, NY, to teach basketball fundamentals to local kids in the New York metropolitan area.
