Last night following the Phoenix Suns vs. LA Lakers game, I had to disagree with just about everything Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith of the TNT crew had to say. However one of the only things I could agree with them on, was that the following play was definitely the ‘Highlight of the Night’. Leandro Barbosa was certainly channeling the injured Steve Nash on this particular sequence, in which he runs the break and gives Jason Richardson a beautiful behind-the-back pass in traffic to free him for the dunk. What I love about J-Rich is that he didn’t just lay it home like many would have done in that situation in traffic. Instead he put a little extra mustard on it. Those are the type of plays that get your team energized. Unfortunately for the Suns, shortly after that play the Lakers went on a huge run to break the game open and cruise in for the victory.
Regardless of wins and losses, this play was just too sweet to go to waste. Suns fans, watch it over and over, as this could be your future post Nash/Shaq. Check it out:
