When Converse told us they were sending us the new Wade Slash to review I was excited since I really like playing with the Wade 4’s they had sent us previously. As I told y’all in the review of the Wade 4’s they are super lightweight which I love, being a guard and all. But what I didn’t expect in testing out the Wade Slash was that i’d actually like them even more than the Wade 4’s. And in considering the Wade Slash are retailing slightly cheaper at only $80 MSRP in The Sports Authority, Champs, Eastbay and online at Converse.com, how can you go wrong?
A tribute to Wade’s signature collection, this sleek silhouette merges durable, lightweight materials with plenty of appeal, on or off the court. Tongue wings fasten to the collar for increased stability and personalized fit, while the heel notch keeps the heel locked over the foot bed. Synthetic upper with deco stitching and WADE badge on tongue top. Herringbone pattern on rubber outsole. The Wade Slash also comes in Black/Silver on Black and Blue/Silver on White.
When you first slip your foot into these babies you can tell immediately you are going to feel at home. While I appreciate how light the Wade 4’s are in total weight, I personally feel these Wade Slash by Converse are more comfortable and have a more ‘padded’ feel to the inside of the shoe. When you couple that with the tongue wings that velcro and secure along the sides of the shoe it adds a more stable and secure feeling for your foot in the shoe that I just love! Just like many other basketball sneakers produced by Converse the grip is tremendous with very little slippage, even on a slightly dusty floor at the YMCA. I was alarmingly aware of how few times I caught myself wiping off dust from the bottom of the shoes, great traction and lateral movements with these.
Oh and as for the cosmetics, you can see for yourself, however I would note I had more than one compliment on the kicks from guys in the pick-up game this weekend! If you have any specific questions on the kicks you want to run by me, feel free to holla at me by email at [email protected].
