Rajon Rondo’s New “Double R” Tattoo

October 19, 2011 – Allen Moll

The debate as to whether or not Boston point guard Rajon Rondo is the current best Celtics player was definitely put to rest after Rondo notched a historic 24 assist game last November, joining only the great Isaiah Thomas as the only 2 players in league history to do so as part of a triple-double.

After all, he is the key cog in connection with the “Big 3“, consisting of Garnett, Allen, and Pierce, in holding together the Celtics aging core for one more run at winning a record 18th NBA Championship. That is, when and if the 2011-2012 season ever takes place.

In 2011, Rondo had yet another outstanding season, finishing a close 2nd to Phoenix’s Steve Nash in assists per game(11.2), and earning his 2nd straight All Star and All Defensive 1st Team nominations, all before his 26th birthday.

Over the Summer offseason, Rondo was a regular at his alma mater University of Kentucky, practicing alongside John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, and other Wildcat greats. He also was the perpetrator of one of the sickest dimes of the Summer when he dished a sweet no-look, over the back pass to Denver rookie Kenneth Faried in an exhibition game.

Rajon must have gotten the itch to get his own signature tattoo from teammate Paul Pierce, who got that nifty “The Truth” ink design on his right forearm about this time last year as the Celtics’ floor general recently got what looks like the Rolls Royce symbol across his entire back.

Not sure if he’s a fan of the automobiles or was giving a shout-out to himself. Just kidding. No doubt, the “RR” stands for Rajon Rondo.
