We all know Lebron James was being scouted from a pretty young age. By the time Lebron got to the NBA we probably all felt like we knew his skills and what he brought to the game fairly well. Although it may have been a shock how fast Lebron adapted to the NBA game, there was never a doubt that the young kid from St. Vincent-St.Mary’s prep in Akron, Ohio was going to be an NBA star.
At what age should a player feel assured that standing out from the pack will mean grabbing the attention of scouts, agents, media, and other hangers-on that follow a rising star? These are the types of questions I was pondering after watching the following video of Jayshawn Augusto, an 11-year old hoops phenom who has his heart set on making it to the ‘League’. Check him out:
This kid has some serious handles for an 11-year old, huh? Word has it he has already been the ‘subject of attention’ of a handful of top notch US Colleges since the video was aired a few months ago. I hope all the hard work pays off for this little guy in the long run.
In the meantime, how young do you think is ‘too young’ for College and NBA scouts to start making contact with aspiring ballers?
