Payne is reportedly suffering from thrombocytopenia or low palet count, according to WebMD it can lead to excessive bleeding and slow blood clotting after an injury.
It seems as though the issue isn’t serious and team doctors just want to treat the injury and get control of it before allowing Payne to return to the court.
Payne has struggled to carve out a role or find consistent minutes in the NBA after being drafted 15th by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2014 NBA Draft.
He is averaging 4.0 points in only 12 appearances for the T’Wolves this season.
