Joel Embiid is so close to being able to play 30 minutes in an NBA game.
Check this out:
Pre-game update:
•Joel Embiid playing time limit increased to 28 minutes, starting tonight vs. Sacramento.— Philadelphia 76ers (@sixers) November 30, 2016
Embiid didn’t get to test out his increased minutes limit against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. The game was postponed because the floor at Wells Fargo Center was deemed too slippery/unsafe to play on. (Seriously.)
But this uptick is a huge deal. The Philadelphia 76ers look like a real basketball team whenever he is on the floor, so any additional time he spends in the game will have a colossal impact.
As for what this means for Embiid, well, consider that he’s averaging 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks in just under 23 minutes per game. And now he has a whole five minutes more to wreak havoc every single night.
Godspeed, opposing defenses. Godspeed.
You may now return to waiting for Embiid to confirm his new minutes limit with an Instagram shrine to Sam Hinkie.
