We know the San Antonio spurs groom their players to be selfless. But we sometimes need to be reminded just how far that nobility stretches.
And so, Manu Ginobili is here to offer us a nostalgic crash course in how much you must be willing to sacrifice to be a member of the Spurs.
Talking with Don Harris of News 4 San Antonio (via The Score’s Patrick Britton), Ginobili recalled how me made the concession of all concessions when he took a charge from Ryan Anderson, then of the New Orleans Pelicans, that prompted him to need surgery on his right testicle:
“I gave my right one,” Ginobili told Don Harris of News 4 San Antonio. “I gave it all, I gave it all. I gave my right one for the Spurs, I can say it, I can really say it. It’s true.”
Welp, this settles it: Ginobili is a better person than the rest of us.

Here’s hoping Manu doesn’t need to put his left testicle in harm’s way on the Spurs’ account anytime soon. But in the event he does, he will.
