The Bulls were the sexy pick for the past handful of years in the East, but things have certainly changed. Derrick Rose’s injuries, roster changes and a head coaching swap has found Chicago potentially missing the playoffs. That’s something that wasn’t fathomable just a year ago, but here we are.
Rookie head coach Fred Hoiberg has come under fire for the team’s struggles this year. The regression is staggering, but is it really all his fault? Taj Gibson doesn’t think so.
“They need to just shut up,” Gibson said. “Everybody tries to discredit this man, and it’s rough. He’s a rookie coach taking on a veteran group. Give him some slack, man. It’s hard enough as it is to come in. You’ve got the whole city of Chicago on your back. It’s tough. But I think he’s just learning. He’s learning, he’s doing a good job, he’s staying with us, and I’m riding with him no matter what.”
