The symbiotic relationship between sneakers and basketball also works as the common ground for people who would otherwise be unrelated. That is part of what paired LeBron James with Pigalle designer Stéphane Ashpool and the resulted Nike collaboration.
For the Pigalle x Nike LeBron 12 Elite collaborative sneaker, the white Megafuse upper has black pixels towards the back (to signify time running out on a shot clock). The thick plastic wings span from the heel over to the forefoot and are colored in a metallic silver.
Besides the switch to plastic from Hyperposite (Foamposite panels), the biggest difference is the addition of another hexagonal Zoom Air cushioning capsule making for five in front and one huge pad under the heel.
Seeing a collaborative LeBron 12 Elite is great, hopefully it’ll draw attention to what might be the best basketball sneaker of 2015 and a definite reference point in the future.
The Pigalle x Nike LeBron 12 Elite is available on Tuesday, August 18th at the X158 NikeLab in Shanghai, Wednesday August 19th at the PS7 NikeLab in Hong Kong with a more widespread release on Thursday, September 3rd.
