The Gary Payton Air Zoom Flight 98 ‘The Glove’ Confirmed Retro For 2013

The ever-ready-to-retro Nike has tapped a sneaker enthusiast favorite from the Gary Payton signature series in the Air Zoom Flight ’98 but more commonly known as ‘The Glove’ sneaker.

Looking at the sample pair seen here shows off ‘The Glove’-like qualities of the sneaker by showing how it looks with both the shroud fully up as well as zipped down.  When unzipped, an interesting web structure made from synthetics that I don’t remember on the original Zoom Flight ’98 from 15 years ago.

I’m not one of the biggest fan of the Zoom Flight 98 as some (I actually prefer Josh Heard’s more recent work like the Air Jordan XX8) but I fully appreciate them.  Gary Payton was my dude growing up off the strength of shit talking alone.  His cameo in the Whoopi Goldberg basketball movie ‘Eddie’ that featured the New York Knicks, Payton’s role as a playground baller is a statue-worthy performance.

With the popularity the Foamposite One has seen in the last several years, is it possible for ‘The Glove’ to be that well-received when it returns at the end of the year?
