Continuing what was first launched last year for post-season play, Nike Basketball introduces the Nike Elite 2.0 series in time for the start of the NBA Playoffs.
On the Kobe 8 System Elite, the Black Mamba or snake theme is seen thru detailing on all visible Swoosh branding. A carbon fiber shank can be seen when looking at the sole with a checked pattern on the Engineered Mesh upper. The Nike Elite version of the KD V changes the silhouette shape of the fifth signature sneaker for Kevin Durant from a 3/4th cut to a low top sneaker and adds Flywire cables into the single-piece upper which now has perforated holes on the instep for ventilation. The carbon fiber features of the KD V Elite come in the form of a heel counter and midfoot shank. Finally for the returning NBA Finals MVP LeBron James, the Nike LeBron X Elite continues to play off of the diamond theme on the first colorway as Carbonado, a stone said to have been created in a supernova.
Carbon fiber, Flywire cables, and signature branding images features seen throughout all the sneakers in the 2013 Nike Basketball Elite series. Last year, Blake Griffin ripped thru a pair of the Hyperdunk 2011 Elite during a NBA Playoff game with the Los Angeles Clippers against the Memphis Grizzlies.
This is the first time a Nike Elite version of Kevin Durant’s signature sneaker can be bought since the Kobe VII, LeBron IX, and Hyperdunk 2011 were the only three sneakers released as part of the Nike Elite series last year even though a KD IV Elite was made and even rotated into Durant’s actual sneaker rotation for the NBA Playoffs.
On April 27th, the Kobe 8 System Elite, KD V Elite, & LeBron X P.S Elite are scheduled to be on store shelves for $200, $200, & $250 respectably.
