HS Player Ties Jordan’s Scoring Record

February 15, 2012 – Allen Moll

There’s not many times, when we can say that a player on any level of basketball was able to tie one of the many basketball records achieved by the G.O.A.T – Michael Jordan. But that is the bragging rights that senior SG Elijah Wilson now has attained as he became only the 2nd player at the famed Laney HS in North Carolina to score 42 points in a game.

Although, the other player to score 42…Michael Jordan back in 1980…did it during regulation, while Wilson’s milestone came during a quadruple-double overtime Playoff win, helping Laney to a 68-62 first round victory in the North Carolina Mideastern Conference Tournament.

After the game, Wilson decided to make a play to the cameras on location as he promptly made a verbal commitment to play for legendary coach Bobby Cremins at the College of Charleston.

Word is that Cremins may have gotten a diamond in the rough as Elijah Wilson is regarded as one of the fastest rising shooting guards in the state of North Carolina.

Highlights of Wilson’s 42 point game begins at the 2:00 mark of the video below.
