New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams can only dream of one day having his jersey retired in the NBA. But he didn’t have to wait to have his #8 jersey retired in Turkey. If anyone ever doubted Turkey’s love of basketball, you can’t help but take notice how they put Deron Williams on a pedestal from day one on his arrival. But when Deron set a Eurocup challenge record by scoring 50 points in a single game, his status in Turkey became legendary. After only a mere 15 games, his Turkish team ‘Besiktas’ held this jersey retirement ceremony for Deron upon word he was leaving to return to the NBA now that the lockout is over.
