It appear that this year’s probable NBA Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin has caught the acting bug. As if he hasn’t done enough already by prompting fans and bloggers aloud if he is the best rookie power forward of all-time because of his outstanding play this season. For good measure, he even threw his hat headfirst into the trick-shot arena when he nailed this amazing shot over the balcony at the Clippers practice facility during the final week of the regular season.
In addition, it seems as if he goes into beast mode every time he plays the Knicks, led the NBA in dunks, and has been tabbed as Mars Blakemon to help resurrect the one time legendary MJ/Mars Blackmon Nike commercials.
Blake seems unfazed by the cameras and it’s no wonder he’s the NBA’s young fresh face appearing in every commercial from Subway, to Kia, to even appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.
While those are all either face-to-face interviews or tried and practiced commercial spots, after watching his spot last week on The Sports Show with Norm MacDonald on Comedy Central, it appears that Blake can act almost as well as he dunks a basketball.
The 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Champ was marvelous in the near 4 minute skit that featured Norm, of Saturday Night Live and Dirty Work fame and current Clippers teammate DeAndre Jordan, in addition to Blake. Even though he played Norm, inside of Blake Griffin’s body, it had to be tough to appear to have absolutely zero basketball skills and lip-sync all of Norm’s lines.
