It would be an understatement to say that the LA Clippers’ Blake Griffin has been every bit as good as expected upon arrival in the National Basketball Association. No one really new just how explosive he would be after his pre-season ending patella tendon/kneecap injury ended his rookie campaign prematurely before last season.
Griffin has been nothing short of scintillating, regularly dunking all over the competition, averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds, and giving Clippers fans a reason to watch the once again absolutely horrible 2nd team from Los Angeles. I mean, you have to be really, really good to be ahead of Washington’s John Wall in virtually everyone’s NBA ROY Rankings, who was practically being handed the NBA’s Rookie of the Year Award immediately following the 2010 Draft.
Griffin has reminded me a bit of Larry Johnson coming out of UNLV of years past since they both have an unbelievable amount of athleticism, power, and ferociousness that few players in league history have possessed. Let’s just hope Blake doesn’t start donning a dress and a wig like Grand-Ma-Ma!
