I guess LA Clippers guard Eric Gordon has been practicing real hard on his dunking skills after his lackluster performance when he was invited to participate in last year’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest. It also appears that he was just itching to show the rest of the NBA that he is more than just a 3 point sharpshooting specialist that he displayed during USA Basketball’s Gold Medal run in FIBA World Championships. While there’s nothing wrong with draining threes for a living, the San Antonio Spurs found out that EG is much, much more, when he served up not one, nut two facial dunks in their recent contest.
With plays like these, Gordon is a shoo-in to move up from his current #7 ranking on our Top 10 NBA Players Under Age 23 list.
The first unlucky victim was none other than future Hall of Fame big man Tim Duncan, who looked every bit of his 34 years of age on his attempt to block the Clippers 21 year old current and future star:
But if that throwdown wasn’t vicious enough, check out what happened when Eric turned his attention towards Spurs rookie James Anderson:
The dunk even caught the Clippers announcers by surprise as you can clearly hear one yell out “Oh Me, Oh My.” Just imagine how James Anderson felt. Gordon did his part by tallying 23 points, 11 assists, and 2 steals in addition to the two poster jams, but it wasn’t enough as the Spurs won the game 97-88, defeating the Clippers for the 17th straight contest. This season, Gordon is averaging a career high 18.2 ppg and has to be in early contention for the Dunk of the Year.
