You guys know that every once in a while I come across a site that interests me, and I let you cats know what’s good. Well today I was browsing this site called PrepChamps and I was amazed at how far we’ve come with the internet and hoops. When I was growing up if there was a site like PrepChamps I would have been all over that, trying to showcase my talents for the scouts.
“PrepChamps is an online social recruiting community for high school sports helping athletes to improve their chances of getting recognized and recruited by college coaches and recruiting coordinators.“ The High school athletes showcase their talents by creating an online profile, posting statistics and photos and uploading highlight videos on PrepChamps.com. In addition, PrepChamps hosts nationwide football combines and serves as the official recruiting partner of several high school sporting events such as the Reebok Basketball Summer Championship. My personal favorite….they have an NCAA clearinghouse checklist tool that athletes/coaches can use to track an athlete’s progress, the ability for athletes to post academic info and test scores. The also have a partnership with Reebok and are involved in 25 of their grassroots events this summer, including:
1. Reebok Headliner Tryout Camps –
2. All-American Camp
3. Proving Ground Regional Combines
I’ve done the college thing, and my best ballin’ days are probably close to behind me, but if any of you guys or gals reading The Hoop Docs are still in school and lookin’ to ball in NCAA you need to grab a profile on PrepChamps and start interacting with scouts you normally wouldn’t have access to. What a concept! I feel like some old Pops talkin’ about “when I was a kid….” but fo’ real if they had this site when I was comin’ up I would have made waves.
Check it out, could open some doors for you. And when you are playing in the NCAA Final Four one day, call Doc Brownty and give him some love for the lead….
