How many times can a person cry “wolf”? The first time I heard Stephon Marbury of the New York Knicks say his coach (Isiah Thomas) was untrustworthy I pretty much believed what he was saying as I had no reason to think otherwise. The second time I figured it was more of the same. Third time I got suspicious of what he was saying.
Now with a new coach, and a very well-respected one league-wide, i’m tending to side with D’Antoni. It’s time for Marbury to just man-up and stop shifting the blame to others. In the following video interview with Marbury about his recent suspension for refusing to play when the Knicks were shorthanded the other night, he accuses Mike D’Antoni of lying and says that he never refused to play. In fact he says he was never even asked to play!
C’mon Stephon, who do you think you are fooling here? We know you love the media attention since you haven’t gotten any of it for your on-court play in years, but it’s time for you to step aside. Do you really want your legacy in the NBA to be focused ‘he said, she said’ stuff related to your mounting number of DNP-CD?
I’ll give Stephon Marbury credit for one thing however concerning his legacy….he may be inventing a new basketball statistical category. At this rate the new category may be called DNP-PD (player’s decision).
