After all the negative attention the Portland Blazers received over the last few weeks for implying they may use the amnesty clause in the new collective bargaining agreement to cut franchise star Brandon Roy from the team due to ongoing knee health issues, the team has announced they no longer plan on cutting Roy. Maybe team officials changed their mind and did end up watching Roy workout one last time afterall?
If that is the case and they decided now to keep Roy, that has to be a good sign for Blazers’ fans regarding Roy’s health. After all the hard work and loyalty Roy has given Portland, we’re happy to hear they are sticking by him. Here are the quotes the Oregon had from Larry Miller on the situation:
Barring an injury setback before the season starts, the Trail Blazers will not use the “amnesty clause” on Brandon Roy this season, team president Larry Miller told The Oregonian late Monday evening.
“Our plan right now is not to use the amnesty,” Miller said. “We expect Brandon to be a part of this team when the season starts.” (VIA)
