Joel Embiid is a man of many words, talents and tweets.
He is one of the most mesmerizing talents and personalities the NBA has seen in some time and has led the 76ers to a surprising 11-7 start to the season by averaging 22.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.8 blocks per game.
He not only is a special offensive talent that evokes the greatness of Hakeem Olajuwon (yeah I said it) he is developing as a defensive anchor as well.
He thinks he is the best defensive player in the NBA.
While Joel is definitely becoming a higher I.Q. player on that end and has all the ability in the world, he is still a notch below the very elite in the league on that end.
He is currently 7th in the NBA in defensive plus/minus, 6th in blocks and 8th in defensive rebounding percentage, all key factors to determine an elite defensive big man.
He is borderline NBA All-Defensive worthy, but he is not quite on the level of a Rudy Gobert or Draymond Green..yet.
If he can stay healthy though, he may someday be the best center in the NBA on both ends of the floor, he has some stiff competition though as the NBA has seen a renaissance of great centers in the last few years.
Whether he is the best defensive player in the NBA or not, Embiid is clearly a superstar and one of the most exciting talents the NBA has seen in some time.
