Amar’e spent the 2016-17 season connecting with his Jewish roots (as a Hebrew Israelite, it’s confusing feel free to look it up) and played a role on a championship winning Israeli team, averaging 9.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in 23 minutes per game.
Amar’e is also the co-owner of the Hapoel Jerusalem B.C franchise. Here he is celebrating the title and cutting down the nets in fantastic fashion…

Now the 34-year-old (he will be 35 in November) is considering an attempt at making a return to the NBA.
He last played 52 games for the Miami Heat in the 2015-16 season, averaging 5.8 points and 4.3 rebounds in 14.7 minutes per game.
He said he has some time to consider whether he would like to play for an organization and provide a role and some veteran leadership.
While it seems somewhat of a longshot that Amar’e is able to return to the NBA, it would be fun to have him back for another season or so to wrap up his career.
Let’s get him back in a Suns or Knicks uniform for old times sake, he could be a good mentor for Marquesse Chriss in Phoenix.
