With the Cavaliers most recent drubbing in San Antonio Monday night, losing 103-74, they are now in 2nd place in the eastern conference.
This is the first time they haven’t been at the top of the eastern conference since November 8th, 2015.

The Celtics are currently in 1st place, a half game ahead of the Cavs at 48-26, with only nine games to play for Cleveland and eight for Boston.
The Cavaliers are currently sporting a 6-9 record for the month of March, for a frame of reference, the Brooklyn Nets are 6-8 this month.
While the Cavaliers are only a half game back, the momentary loss of the top spot in the eastern conference is almost symbolic and indicative of the fact that the Cavaliers are the most vulnerable that they have been since LeBron’s first few months with the team after returning in 2014.
The No. 1 seed may not be the biggest priority or need in the world for the defending champs with all of their playoff experience and ability to win big games on the road, but the ability to find their groove and start playing much better basketball in the final few weeks of the regular season is a very big deal if they want to be able to return to the NBA Finals and set up the much-anticipated rubber match with the Warriors.
The Cavaliers will play the Celtics in Boston on April 5, in a game that could likely determine home court in the eastern conference.
