Well, I’ll be: We have another twist in the Chicago Bulls’ point guard saga.
Michael Carter-Williams started at the 1 in each of the team’s last 12 games. Prior to the Bulls’ Tuesday night win over the clunky Orlando Magic, though, he found out he was now nixed from the rotation in favor of Jerian Grant and Rajon Rondo—yes, the same Rajon Rondo who thought himself out of the rotation.
Here’s all the fun details from the Chicago Tribune‘s K.C. Johnson and ESPN.com’s Nick Friedell:
Hoiberg confirms Grant starts at PG. Won't reveal backup PG. Rondo is under impression he's out of rotation.

MCW said he was told Rondo likely backup PG.

MCW: "I didn't see this coming."

MCW says he was surprised by Hoiberg's decision to bench him. He said he wasn't told yet what he needs to do to get back in starting lineup.

It gets slightly better, too.
Rondo was asked about potentially returning to the starting lineup after logging 15 minutes, taking three shots and dropping three assists:
Does Rondo think he may start again at some point? "Ha. Good one."

See, Bulls fans? Everything is totally fine.
Just kidding.
This odd experiment isn’t over for Chicago. Head coach Fred Hoiberg went without a point guard for stretches against Orlando and could decide to give that look more spin in the coming games. Or maybe he’ll go back to Grant. Or Rondo. Or MCW.
We don’t really know.
The Bulls need a point guard who can space the floor and play off the ball since they have Jimmy Butler and Dwyane Wade on the roster. And until they get that offensive pilot, their point guard rotation will remain in unrivaled flux.
