Knicks Interested in Trading for Derrick Rose

Reports surfaced that the New York Knicks may have been in contact with the Chicago Bulls recently about dealing for injury prone star Derrick Rose.

Rose is entering the final year of his contract and is set to make $21.3 million in 2016-17.

The Knicks are in dire need of a point guard maybe more so than any team in the NBA as they currently have the likes of Jose Calderon, Jerian Grant, Tony Wroten and Langston Galloway on their roster.

They have very little in the way of assets to offer though as they don’t own a draft pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and would not be willing to part with the two assets currently on their roster with any real value: Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony.

The Bulls may just want to move on from Rose and with the Knicks having up to $30 million in cap space this summer and the ability to take on Rose’s contract, they would do a deal for a future 1st rounder and a player like Jerian Grant.

I think the Bulls would honestly be better served looking elsewhere to make a deal as the Knicks cupboard of trade-able assets is as bare as any in the NBA.

Seeing Rose in a Knicks uniform alongside another fading star not known for his efficiency or defense in Carmelo Anthony may not be the best course of action for the Knicks either.
