LaMarcus Aldridge’s arrival in San Antonio ensures Pop and company won’t miss a beat once Tim Duncan decides to retire. Pop doesn’t play anyone more than 30 minutes a game, so it will be interesting to see how the rotation looks and how Aldridge adjusts to playing somewhat sparingly.
But as far as Duncan is concerned, he’s happy LaMarcus is there because he plans to “ride his coattails.”
In assessing how he’ll mesh with Aldridge, Duncan says, “I’m not worried about him benefiting my game; I’m going to worry about me benefiting his. I’m going to let him do his thing and just see where I can fit in and help. I’m going to ride his coattails and I’m going to push him.”
