Becky Hammon and Nancy Lieberman are blazing trails in the NBA by landing assistant coaching gigs with the Spurs and Kings respectively. Hammon especially became noteworthy when she led the Spurs summer league team to the championship.
If there were to be another name that would make sense in this same conversation, that would be Lisa Leslie. And if you ask her, she’d be game for the opportunity.
“I could coach. I haven’t had the desire to coach because I have little kids but I would never say never that’s definitely something I’m totally capable of doing in the NBA…..
“I definitely think that I have some knowledge of the game that would definitely help their (Clippers) postgame, post players, footwork, and how to defend offensively and defensively. For sure, I could help that team immediately.”
