Michael Carter-Williams Named Rookie of the Year

Mcw_crop_northNot only was the Sixers’ Michael Carter-Williams the best rookie this past season, but he was probably the most surprising one as well. Entering a season, you can sometimes tell who will be named rookie of the year and I don’t know that many had MCW tabbed.

He was one of the few bright spots for a woefully bad Philly team. But all is not lost. Next year they’ll have Nerlens Noel (who will technically be considered a rookie) and high draft-pick coming in. The future is bright.

As expected, Michael Carter-Williams officially has been named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year.

Carter-Williams received 104 of a possible 124 first-place votes and accumulated 569 total points (five for first, three for second, one for third) in the voting. Orlando’s Victor Oladipo finished second with 364 points (16 first-place votes), and Utah’s Trey Burke was third with 96 (one first-place vote).
