Pistons to Go After Michigan State’s Tom Izzo

TomIzzyGranted, basketball is basketball but the level definitely matters. At that’s definitely the case when it comes to coaching. Some NBA coaches have gone to the college ranks and have had success, but the same isn’t always true in reverse. It’s far less frequent. The names of those who weren’t successful is far too long to list here.

A few years ago, Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo was courted by the Cavaliers in their attempt to keep LeBron. They both declined the Cavs. Now, it is being reported that Izzo will be pursued by the Detroit Pistons this summer, according to SI.

He has a good thing going on in Sparty-land, so this should be interesting.

With the Pistons’ disastrous season coming to a merciful close, and possibly the end of Joe Dumars’ tenure in the team’s front office, reports are starting to circulate about the team’s expected makeover this offseason and potential new leaders.

According to Sam Amick of USA Today, one person Detroit’s ownership will pursue this summer is Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo.
