Iverson Headed Back To Court, Wife Wants $1.2 Million

Despite everyone looking back at some of A.I.’s greatest moments as he officially retired from the NBA this past week, he once again is in the news for all the wrong reasons.

As first reported by TMZ Sports, Allen’s former longtime wife, Tawanna is trying to force the one time NBA great back to court to pay a reported $1.2 million in child support for his children up front, since he has had issues making regular payments on time.

Sometime in August, Tawanna reportedly filed court documents asking a judge to make Allen cover the total amount of support owed to her through October 2026, when their youngest turns 18, totaling a whopping $1,272,000, which Tawanna wants put in a trust for the children.

Back in July, Iverson narrowly avoided jail time by coughing up a reported $71,000 in back child support as ordered by a judge presiding over his divorce settlement.

Iverson’s financial situation has always been a bit suspect after his playing days, amid rumors of alcoholism, gambling debts, and potential bankruptcy, amazingly since he has made more than $200 million during his career through endorsements and salary.

There are rumors he has a trust fund set up that can’t be touched until later in life but it sounds like he’s trying to make ends meet by first playing in Turkey, then in China on a Legends Tour with the Ball Up streetball crew.  Of course, he’s in line to make a decent amount of change as Reebok has recently re-released his ever popular Answer line of shoes and clothing.

I’m not even sure that it’s legal to ask for child support payments of this amount up front, but Tawanna apparently doesn’t want to keep going through the same issues as in the past with late payments.  Let’s hope that A.I. is finally getting his life together as his playing career is clearly in the rear view mirror……
