TV and Radio Host Dan LeBatard loves his Miami Heat. So much so that he found in incomprehensible that the Heat could lose last year in the NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks. In fact he guaranteed it….in a bet….with Charles Barkley. The prize of the bet was the loser had to do their respective shows wearing nothing but a speedo.
We all know how the Finals turned out with the Heat collapsing and the Mavericks taking home the title. Fast forward almost a year, and the day Charles Barkley is collecting on that bet is finally here. Yesterday, Dan LeBatard paid off the bet at the South Beach Clevelander in front of Barkley himself, family, friends, colleagues and a bunch of cameras. Here is the result:
“Got to pay off the bet,” Barkley said shortly before the unveiling, which occurred at the end of Le Batard’s drive-time radio show on 790 The Ticket. “Dan’s a really good friend of mine, and we’re going to have a little fun with it.”
Quipped Le Batard’s on-air sidekick, Jon “Stugotz” Weiner: “I’m more excited for this than I am for the Heat to win a championship.”
