What turned out to be a busy trade deadline day with a bunch of transactions was missing the one we all thought was surely coming. Dwight Howard didn’t get moved. Well not yet anyway. The Magic didn’t move him as he decided to waive his opt-out clause. Therefore he’s staying with the Magic at least through next season.
But never fear here is a quick hit summary of the trades that did happen yesterday…
Three team trade with Nuggets, Wizards, and Clippers:
The Denver Nuggets agreed Thursday to ship big man Nene to Washington in a three-team deal, with the Wizards sending JaVale McGee and Ronny Turiaf to Denver and Nick Young to the Los Angeles Clippers, a person with knowledge of the trade told The Associated Press. (via)
Rockets Get Fisher from Lakers and Camby from Blazers:
A person familiar with the deal says the Houston Rockets have acquired center Marcus Camby from Portland and Derek Fisher and a 2012 first-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers in separate trades.
The Rockets are sending point guard Jonny Flynn, center Hasheem Thabeet and a second-round pick to the Trail Blazers and forward Jordan Hill to the Lakers. The person spoke Thursday on the condition of anonymity because the deal had not been announced. (via)
Blazers Fire Head Coach Nate McMillan:
The Portland Trail Blazers have fired coach Nate McMillan.
The Blazers announced the move on Thursday, one day after a 42-point loss to the Knicks in New York. Assistant coach Caleb Kanales will be the interim head coach.(via)
Nets Get Gerald Wallace from Portland:
The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed in principle to trade Gerald Wallace to the New Jersey Nets for Mehmet Okur, Shawne Williams and a protected first-round pick, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Wallace, 29, is averaging 13.3 points and 6.6 rebounds this season.(via)
Lakers Get Point Guard Ramon Sessions from Cavs:
The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired point guard Ramon Sessions from the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a multi-player deal that will bring the Cavs the Lakers’ 2012 first-round pick, according to league sources.
The Cavs also will send young wing player Christian Eyenga to the Lakers and veteran forward Luke Walton will be going to the Cavs.(via)
