The last time that this shoe has seen a retail shelf was in 2009. Though only 2 years ago, the release wasn’t brought stateside and left many with no alternative but to pay reseller prices or scramble for an overseas connect.
For those who remember, the True Blue III and the Cool Grey XI were the Retro+ colorways of choice for Michael during his time as a Washington Wizard in 2001 even though the True Blue color blocking is an original colorway of the Air Jordan III dating back to 1988.
This release stays very true to the original and is identical to the pair that dropped in 2009; though many Jordan purists will always point out minute differences, like the spacing between the elephant print on the heel and toe. White tumbled leather makes up the upper, while True Blue is used on the midsole, lining, and on a couple lace eyelets. Varsity Red is seen on the remaining eyelets and Jumpman insignia.
The Air Jordan III “True Blue” is scheduled to hit retailers June 4, 2011.
