Bucks Optimistic Bogut Can Return For Start Of Season

The Bucks and the 7-foot center are hoping they can put his gruesome injury behind them, although it’s unclear how long it will take for Bogut to return to full strength. He is expected to return to Milwaukee on Tuesday and will be re-evaluated as the Bucks players begin informal workouts at the Cousins Center.

“Our hope and anticipation is that Andrew will be ready to go when the season begins,” Bucks general manager John Hammond said. “The great thing about going through this process with Andrew is he’s proven to us as an organization and to our fans, that his effort, energy and toughness will never be questioned.”

Bogut suffered a fractured right hand and index finger, broken bones in his right wrist and a dislocated right elbow when he violently hit the floor after dunking the ball against the Phoenix Suns.

He has been working on his rehabilitation in his native Australia after also spending part of his summer in Croatia.

Bogut expressed some frustration in a USA Today interview over his ability to straighten his elbow and said he had to make sure not to overdo things.
