Previously in Fantasy Dunk-Off, we gave you a hypothetical match-up featuring two of the game’s rising stars in Andre Iguodala and JR Smith. While we all can hope and actually envision these athletic play-makers competing in next season’s dunk contest, our newest match-up features two contestants who are either already a dunk contest legend or are just starting to earn a reputation as a rim wrecker in the Association.
Our first contestant, Vince Carter, needs no introduction since he may have had the best performance by a contestant in any dunk contest, back in the now historic 2000 event. My favorite is the “Honey Dip Dunk” where he basically dunks the ball up to his elbow. And of course, who could forget what is widely considered the best in-game dunk in history, where Vince dunked over a 7 foot Frenchman in the Olympics.
His opponent, Rudy Gay, is a 3rd year player who already is amassing quite a body of work as an aspiring throw-down artist as evidence of his variety of imaginative jams against the rest of the league this season. Some fans even thought that because of this dunk, that Rudy should have won the ’08 Dunk Contest instead of Dwight Howard.
Recently both players pulled off some pretty impressive 360 dunks during live game action. Let’s take a look at the competitors:
Vince Carter’s 360 vs Grizzlies:
Rudy Gay 360 vs Hornets:
Who would win in a Dunk-Off: a modern day Vin-sanity of Rudy Gay?
