The past couple weeks The Hoop Doctors have been monitoring the NESW Sports website for their recent surge of posting Michael Jordan video clips and commercials that we consider to be classics. Personally it got me thinking about what my favorite Jordan moments and vids are. In my opinion there is no greater ‘pump-up’ basketball film than Michael Jordan – Air Time (1993). It doesn’t matter how many times I watch it, every single time I get that feeling of butterflies in my stomach like you get on ‘game day’. All you ballers out there know exactly the feeling i’m talking about, right? Even though my days of organized hoops are almost behind me, I still get that feeling whether it is the same day of a league game at the YMCA, or the day before a road trip for a tournament. Just anticipation of the joy of hoopla…
But back to ‘Air-Time’ for a minute. It’s the very beginning of the movie where MJ is sitting in that chair in his home gym discussing how it all started for him, hitting the big shot for North Carolina. What is that music playing? I think the music is a huge contributor to the pump up feeling you get when watching the footage. Does anyone know who the composer is? If so, please let me know as I want to give them a pat on the back for making my life just a little bit better. I’ve included below the intro to Air-Time for your viewing pleasure. But be warned….if you press play, be prepared to have an unstoppable desire to get your self up from the computer and hit the gym!
