Breaking: Elite HS Recruit Aaron Gordon Commits To Arizona

Although the official date that the most sought after high school recruits can sign with a college program isn’t until April 17th, there has been a flurry of activity near the top of the class of 2013 rankings.

It all began with former #1 ranked player Jabari Parker committed to Duke, then just last week, top rated power forward and #3 overall ranked player Julius Randle announced his decision to play for the University of Kentucky.

And now on the eve of the 2013 McDonald’s All American Game tipping off on Wednesday, April 3rd at Chicago’s United Center, perhaps the most physical player in the senior class Aaron Gordon, has committed to the University of Arizona.

The 6’8 forward has regularly been compared to LA Clippers big man Blake Griffin for his raw talent, ferociousness around the rim, and highlight reel dunking ability.

Gordon, a California native,  chose Arizona over Kentucky, Washington, and Oregon.  He is the #2 ranked power forward and the #4 overall prospect in the 2013 recruiting class.

The prized big man averaged 21.6 ppg, 15.7 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks during his senior season at Archbishop Mitty HS in San Jose, California and is the reigning MVP of last Summer’s Elite 24 Game.

He joins fellow Top 20 rated recruit and McDonald’s All American Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and elite shooting guard Elliot Pitts as part of coach Sean Miller’s recruiting class next season.  Although several upperclassmen are leaving due to graduation, the Wildcats return a star studded frontcourt featuring a trio of promising sophomores in Kaleb Tarczewski, Brandon Ashley, and Grant Jerrett.
