Back in early December, Indiana Coach Tom Crean witnessed arguably his greatest moment as the head man in Bloomington when junior forward Christian Watford calmly sank a game-winning 3 point shot at the buzzer to defeat top ranked Kentucky.
Three months later, the two legendary collegiate programs have a much anticipated rematch of their classic tilt in the form of a Sweet 16 match-up. Since their earlier clash, the teams have gone in slightly different directions as Kentucky ran off a string of 24 consecutive wins before losing only their 2nd game of the season to Vanderbilt in the SEC Title Game. Indiana went 15-8 during the remainder of the regular season, before winning 3 of their last 4 games.
Indiana has some injury concerns as they will be without the services of senior starter Verdell Jones III, who was lost for the remainder of the season due to injury. Kentucky on the other hand appears at full strength, blowing out their first two opponents in the Big Dance by an average of 15 ppg.
With only days remaining before the epic rematch this Friday, the war of words, or rather videos, has begun as one UK fan decided to insert Anthony Davis, Christian Watford, and John Calipari into the blockbuster gladiator genre film called 300 from a few years ago as Davis and Watford go toe-to-toe before being shoved into a pit…….funny stuff.
