Danny Green Claims No One on Spurs is ‘At Odds’ with Kawhi Leonard

At least one member of the San Antonio Spurs isn’t buying into the Kawhi Leonard rumor-mill hype. And if you believe said player, no one on the team is actually placing stock in the most recent developments.

During a recent appearance on Chris Broussard’s In The Zone podcast, resident speculation-squasher Danny Green tried downplaying the notion that Leonard is at odds with any of his teammates. Here’s what Green said, as transcribed by UPROXX’s Ryan Nagelhout:

“I can say from our team and from their perspective and standpoint, I can speak for most of them, there is no odds,” Green said. “We’re not at odds with him. I don’t know about the front office, I don’t know about family issues or whatever that is. I would like to guess none because he’s in the facility, he’s at the arena, he’s still there, they communicate, they still talk and check up on him, he still works out with our training staff. But from the team’s perspective, there’s nobody on our team that’s at odds with him. We understand, we have his back regardless of what he’s been going through.”

On some level, the Leonard drama has to be getting blown out of proportion. That’s what happens in the NBA. The extent to what we hear via anonymous sources is seldom a picture-perfect depiction of what’s actually going on. So despite all the hoopla, Leonard’s teammates might not resent him for remaining on the sidelines and tending to his right quad injury.

All of this in mind, though, something’s amiss in San Antonio. There’s been too much smoke for there not to be a fire. It may not be an inferno, but the rest of the NBA isn’t planning to inquire about Leonard’s availability for no reason.

It’s like the age-old saying goes: There are three sides to every story—yours, mine and the truth. And in this case, there’s what we’re hearing from the Spurs, what we’re hearing from anonymous sources and those outside the organization and then the truth.
