Count On Chandler Parsons Recruiting Dwight Howard to Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks’ 2015-16 season is officially over, which means Chandler Parsons can freely talk about recruiting Dwight Howard.

Actually, I’m not sure if he can legally do that. Howard’s season is still ongoing, so there’s a chance talking about bringing him to Dallas qualifies as tampering.

Either way, Parsons doesn’t care.

From Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

That Parsons plans on recruiting Howard means he is planning on sticking with the Mavericks. He has a player option for next season, which he is expected to decline, and it could cost Dallas a max contract to keep him in town.

If the Mavericks are willing to pay that, bet on Howard suiting up in Dallas next season. Parsons was responsible for bringing him to Houston in 2013, and Dallas isn’t too far away.

Plus, it’s pretty telling that Parsons apparently said Howard is leaving Houston. Yes, we all know that. But for him to verbalize it, as he seemingly did, suggests the two remain close and have talked about the prospect of teaming up again.

Forgive me, Mavericks fans, for holding on to any congratulatory pleasantries. I have mixed feelings about a core of Dwight Howard, Wesley Matthews, Dirk Nowitzki and Chandler Parsons. They would be fun, assuming everyone is healthy, but they hardly thrust Dallas onto the same plane as the Golden State Warriors or San Antonio Spurs.
