Everyone was praying that Lebron James would follow through on his promise to enter this year’s Sprite NBA Dunk Contest at All-star Weekend. Unfortunately he disappointed NBA fans everywhere in turning down the invitation. So with the NBA Dunk contest coming this weekend, thought it may be fun to look back at LeBron’s first and only dunk contest – the POWERADE Jam Fest at the 2003 McDonald’s All-Star Game. The PowerAde Jam Fest is a skills competition for the country’s top high school basketball players competing in the McDonald’s All-American Game.
In 2005, Gerald Green of the Gulf Shores Academy in Houston, Texas set the PowerAde High School Jam Fest on fire at the McDonald’s game by throwing down a disgusting east bay funk off two feet and off the bounce. His jumping ability, ball handling skill, and creativity made Gerald Green one of the best dunkers we’ve seen in both NBA and High School Dunk contests. Take a look back to 2005 here:
