Around this time last year, TheHoopdoctors.com were one of the first to bring you the remarkable story of then 2nd grade phenom Brooklyn Vick, who despite being just 8 years old, was tearing up both the hardwood and the gridiron in the state of Virginia.
Fast forward one year later to today, and Vick has rapidly been getting more exposure for his on court/field exploits, garnering the #1 national ranking for all 3rd graders by famed youth hoops site MiddleSchoolElite.com.
Over the past few weeks we have been in contact with Brooklyn’s father Frank Vick, for an update on the next potential great 2 sport star, and what we got was truly amazing.
Since November, Brooklyn’s 3rd grade team has gone 41-1, with the lone loss coming in a championship game. But I was recently informed that Brooklyn vindicated that lone loss by winning an AAU Championship just this past week.
For the season, Brooklyn has put up an impressive stat-line of 21.3 ppg, 7 steals, and 5 assists per game, playing upwards of 6-7 games per day for both his 3rd and 4th grade AAU squads, and has or will be participating in the CP3 Camp, Middle School Elite Camp, and HS powerhouse Oak Hill Hoops Camp.
In football he led his team to it’s second straight undefeated season in a row and won MVP for the 5th time in five years playing football. He led his team with 26 TD’s and had 3 games of 300 yards rushing. He has even caught the eye of former 2 time NFL All Pro Albert Haynesworth, who took pictures with Brooklyn at a recent Hoops event.
In March, the legend of Brooklyn Vick grew just a little more as the Roanoke Times ran a feature piece on the 2 sport phenom, helping to shed some insight on the 9 year old’s amazing work ethic of practicing multiple time throughout the day, even waking his parents up before sunrise to run drills.
All of the hard work has undoubtedly paid off as Vick, a distant cousin to NFL and Virginia Tech star Michael Vick, has already received numerous letter of interest from high major Division I football programs like Virginia, Arizona, and Purdue.
In the age where seemingly a new athletic phenom appears on Youtube daily and their videos of them dribbling around opponents and through their legs become viral, Brooklyn Vick is the real deal.
He pairs a unique athletic ability that most players 3 times his age only hope to have, with some strong family values and a strong support system, as well as a deep desire and determination to truly be the best.
Proof of all of this is revealed in his future goals of being the first player to be selected #1 overall in both the NBA and NFL Drafts, albeit after finishing his college education.
The future looks bright for Brooklyn Vick and we here at TheHoopdoctors.com will continue to update the accomplishments of the star phenom. Good luck in reaching your goals Brooklyn.
