The Sacramento Kings have surprisingly fired their current head coach—Mike Malone—and assistant coach Tyrone Corbin will be appointed as their interim head coach, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
This surely comes as a shock for most people. The Kings are actually having a pretty solid start this season (11-13), especially, when you compare it to their previous few seasons.

DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay have further enhanced their game, and are slowly developing as one of the formidable duos in the league, which have been key in their eleven victories. But apparently, the management office expected better results from Malone at this stage thus, leading to his unexpected dismissal.
It’s been a while since we last saw them in contention in the post season and this season may possibly end this long drought if they can finish the season strong.
The task of taking the Kings or any team back into the playoffs is easier said than done, it’ll take as much time as necessary to develop their young talent to give them the depth they need in the rotation. All you can do is gather the right pieces and work a solid system until the chemistry and system are right. And in Malone’s case, maybe they should have been more patient with his system, as they seemed to be turning a corner.
Nonetheless, what’s done is done and the Kings have decided to move on in another direction in terms of their head coach. So, who’s got next? Maybe George Karl or Vinny Del Negro?
