This past weekend, I was invited out with the AND1 design team as they toured around the Coney Island side of Brooklyn, NY with Lance Stephenson as they gather inspiration for the upcoming Born Ready collection thru AND1 apparel.
Very fittingly, the first stop on the tour was famed Abraham Lincoln HS where Stephenson led the school to four-straight PSAL championships. It should be noted that Stephenson still holds the record for most points scored in a high school career (2946) of any New York player. Ever.
Last summer AND1 made a special Railsplitters colorway of the Tai Chi for Lance Stephenson to celebrate his Lincoln retiring his jersey number. While this isn’t one of pairs that Born Ready wore in one of his triple-double games this past NBA season, this pair was game-worn late last week during a surprise appearance from Born Ready in a Nike Pro City League game at Baruch College in NYC where Lance led his team to victory while going for 47 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds.
This AND1 Tai Chi ‘Railsplitters’ PE is no longer kept in the back of Lance Stephenson’s two-tone Rolls Royce Phantom and now have a new home being proudly displayed in the athletic trophy case and can be seen outside of the Abraham Lincoln High School gym.
