The Air Jordan XX9 stakes the claim of being the first woven upper basketball sneaker designed for performance. Called Flight Web, its purpose is to provide the wearer with a more custom fit thanks to the upper materials to be made from a single layer. It is also said to be very resistant to scratches and abrasions.
For the 29th version of the Air Jordan basketball sneaker, the Flight Plate system from the Air Jordan XX8 is updated for this new shoe. Two Zoom Air units are used to cushion the Jordan XX9 with the front bag having similar to the placement of the previous Jordan model while the heel has a tendril shape said to give a more smooth heel-to-toe transition.

Breaking the long history of having the new silhouette debut during the NBA All-Star Game in February, the Air Jordan XX9 comes out in September to line up with the start of the professional basketball season. There will be two colorways upon initial release; one in Chicago Bulls and one in Charlotte Bobcats uniform colors respectively.
Jordan Brand held an event unveiling the Air Jordan XX9 in NYC today with designer Tinker Hatfield and the HNIC Michael Jordan in attendance to address the media.
