The Utah Jazz just barely missed the playoffs in the Western Conference, but they have a nice young core. And frankly, if they were in the East, they would’ve made it. Their front court is especially young and talented. Between Al Jefferson, Enes Kanter, Derrick Favors and Paul Millsap they have a formidable presence around the basket.
In order to get them where they need to be, Karl Marlone has agreed to help work with Utah’s big men. This sort of stuff is great to see. Hakeem Olajuwon does this with big men as well, and now Malone. You didn’t typically see this sort of stuff go on when Olajuwon and Malone were in their prime, but it goes to show just hot tight the NBA fraternity is.
Hall of Famer Karl Malone is returning to the Utah Jazz to help develop and mentor the team’s two young big men.
Jazz CEO Greg Miller said Wednesday that Malone will work with Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter, as well as other players. The team says no specific schedule has been set for Malone’s involvement. Miller said it will be a part-time, consulting type of arrangement with Malone working periodically with Favors and Kanter.
