There have been murmurs and social media posts for months that would hint that Hayward would be able to make a miraculous recovery from his compound fracture that was suffered on opening night vs the Cavaliers, his first game as a Celtic.
Hayward even shared a video on The Players Tribune over the weekend with his training in his recovery:
Patience. One goal.

Celtics Head Coach Brad Stevens shut it all down during a shoot around before the Celtics game in Houston on Saturday.
The #Celtics Brad Stevens reiterated that Gordon Hayward WILL NOT return this season. Stevens said Hayward is progressing but is a “super-long “ ways away from doing 1-on-zero work, and being able to cut.

This is by far the best decision for the team and Hayward’s career going forward as there are way too many cautionary tales of players cutting their careers short by coming back too early from an injury.
